Vivien Beker Arrives in Madrid: First Ever Basket4All Scholarship Approved

We’re thrilled to announce that a player from our Talent Academy has just received a scholarship, co-funded by Zentro Basket Madrid and the Xcalibur Foundation! A dream come true for everyone involved in the Basket4All programme. Vivien Beker has arrived in Madrid (Spain) all the way from Kinshasa (DRC) to continue his education and pursue his basketball training at the Zentro Basket Madrid academy.

Since his very first days at the Talent Academy, Vivien has shown remarkable commitment to sport, social values, and excellence in all areas. For this reason, the Xcalibur Foundation and Zentro Basket Madrid are delighted to support him on this new journey. In Vivien’s words,

“Basketball is my life; it’s my passion”.

And it is a passion that he lives wholeheartedly:

“The values that a good player must have are discipline, humility and, above all, the ability to listen and always have self-confidence. When a player no longer has self-confidence, that becomes a problem; he becomes immediately vulnerable. So that’s what self-confidence is all about”.

At just 14 years old, Vivien has already proven himself to be larger than his nearly two-metre height, embracing this experience with enthusiasm.

“I’m not going to lie to you, it’s normal to be scared. But I have faith in God and in the Talent Academy, and I believe that everything is going to go well”.

The entire Basket4All team looks forward to continuing our support of the young talents in the Talent Academy and the community in the DRC, promoting best practices and using sport as a force for positive change. We hope Vivien will continue to be an inspiring example to others.

This achievement would not have been possible without the support of OL Consult, First Bank DRC, Momo, and Alimo.

Together, we are transforming the present to build a brighter future.
