Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo – 28 August 2024
Basket4All continues to strengthen its mission of social and sports development within the Kinshasa community through its sports school Talent Academy, an initiative of the Basket4All programme created by the Xcalibur Foundation in collaboration with Zentro Basket Madrid. In line with this goal, we are pleased to announce the launch of an intensive basketball camp that will benefit over 50 young people, offering them intensive technical training in the sport.
The camp will take place from August 28 to 31 at Maisha Park in the Gombe district, featuring the expertise of the technical team from Zentro Basket Madrid alongside the coaches from Talent Academy. During these days, participants will develop their sports skills while acquiring social values in a safe and stimulating environment.
We invite everyone to follow us on our social media channels, such as Instagram (@fundacionxcalibur) and Facebook, where we will be broadcasting live to keep you updated on all the exciting activities and ensure you don’t miss out on what’s to come.
The success of this camp and the Talent Academy, a socio-sports academy of the Basket4All programme created by the Xcalibur Foundation, is largely due to the support of our partners. FirstBank DRC, the official sponsor of the Provincial Basketball League of Kinshasa, and OL CONSULT SARL have shown a strong commitment to sports and youth development in Kinshasa. Through their collaboration with the Basket4All programme, these two organizations provide essential financial resources and logistical support for the project’s development.
Additionally, the technical aspect of our Talent Academy is ensured by comprehensive training specifically designed for this project by Zentro Basket Madrid, one of Europe’s most prestigious basketball academies. This training not only enhances young people’s opportunities on and off the court but also promotes essential values such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.
Moreover, Momo and Alimo, beyond their financial support, have been valuable collaborators in this project. As leading brands in the food and beverage sector, they not only provide products for the nutrition of young athletes but also share the goal of promoting positive values through sports.
Regarding the Talent Academy, part of the Basket4All programme created by the Xcalibur Foundation, it was launched in January 2024, following a selection phase in October 2023. Currently, it includes 30 young people aged 12 to 16, who receive training in sports skills and social values. Training sessions are held twice a week under the supervision of specialized coaches and a social worker. This structure ensures not only a high level of sports education but also comprehensive emotional and social support.
Basket4All remains committed to its mission of promoting the personal, social, and sports development of young people in Kinshasa, and this new summer camp is another step towards achieving that goal.
